PayRue is a decentralized financial platform that operates as an exchange and provides wallets, and transfers with cryptocurrencies. Their mission is to support the mass adoption of cryptocurrencies with secure and user-friendly apps.

The Challenge

The goal was to deliver a payment platform for cryptocurrency transactions that is easy and convenient to use on both desktop and mobile devices in a time when the market was volatile, and end-users were afraid of trusting third parties to secure their crypto transactions.

Solution

After the kick-off meeting with stakeholders where we discussed the business goal and technical constraints, I started the ideation phase, brainstorming, product review and competitor analysis.

I conducted user interviews, during which I focused on understanding the user’s motivations for using such a product, actions they would like to complete, and how they imagine the ideal product.

I found that the majority of the users would use a contact book, where they would match people or companies with transactions. In my design process, I included this functionality and added a feature to view transaction history. Those features created a sense of control and transparency for future users.

Also, I designed a standing-order functionality, which was due to be then implemented in the next release of the application.

The Result

www.payrue.com has come leaps and bounds with regulatory approval, has a base of investors and a loyal user base that hold crypto issued by Payrue. The product has become a proven model and is ever-evolving in the fast pace world that cryptocurrency is known.
